All of the Curve Looks from the Christian Siriano FW19 Show!
6:00 AMChristian Siriano literally shot for the stars by hosting his FW19 show at the Top of the Rock in Midtown Manhattan. The theme of the ambitious show (it's quite difficult to get up there due to the limited amount of space within the elevators) was futurism, which made itself evident in the collection's use of metallics, specifically silver in various levels of shine.
The hits: 10/57 looks were on curve models including friendly faces Ashley Graham and Candice Huffine. We love how the looks are red carpet ready and bring the glam; Fashion Week will always need brands like Siriano's which sprinkle the season with the luxurious and celebratory vibe that makes NYFW both iconic and enviable.
The misses: Futurism can be one of the most liberal creative briefs because the future is what we make of it, right? So we were a little disappointed that in this case the future seems to be sponsored by Reynolds foil; do we only wear shiny silver and matte black in the future? While a large portion of the collection felt like a Project Runway challenge where the inspiration was the MTV VMA Moonman, it culminated with a show stopping, sheer and embellished gown worn by Ashley Graham. The sparkly, banded number should honestly be archived away for the respective future "It Girl" to wear to the Met Gala 3019. While we know they save the best for last, we wished the collection had more looks that played off of this vibe.
